The creation of my main character, Jim Long space agent all started when I was 13 and produced the school magazine each month. At this time, his creation came out of my mind, and I used to draw matchstick figures (badly) and stories. In the Royal Air Force in the sixties, a strange, revealing incident happened to me that really is the basis of Jim Long. This was soon forgotten for many years until I was in my fifties. Then Jim long remerged in my imagination and I wrote my first book with a biro and lots of sheets of paper. Then there were no computers, and I had a biro indentation imposed on my forefinger. Now there are six and a 7th in progress.
